Associate, School Partnerships

Weill Music Institute seeks an Associate, School Partnerships. Reporting to the Director of School and Family Programs, the Associate will plan, lead, create, coordinate and implement partnerships at schools and in the community, assessing/evaluating the work. Other responsibilities include: content development and relationship management, including collaboratively creating professional development opportunities, planning documents, budget documents, assessment materials and managing online components, parent materials, lesson plans and curricula materials
Qualifications: Must have in-depth understanding of the NYC Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Music and experience working in public school culture and interest in pedagogy, inquiry, and assessment/evaluation. Ability to facilitate conversations, synthesize information, and recognize and catalyze quality in all aspects of the work. Excellent verbal, writing, editing and proof reading skills required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, creative, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Able to self-manage, multi-task and communicate in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent computer skills with basic knowledge of Tessitura, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word strongly desired.
Associate Website Director

We seek an Associate Website Director to manage all day-to-day operations of the Carnegie Hall web site, insuring smooth functioning of the website application and managing daily site updates. He/She will be responsible for the technical operation and performance of the website application, attending to technical problems in a timely manner. Will work as a key part of a team including the IT department to solve problems and manage hardware and software. He/she will work closely with the Director of Interactive to maintain a schedule of site enhancements and is involved in decisions about the website's technology and functionality. When required, he/she will take on the project management of site enhancements. He/she will also arrange for and manage site monitoring and reporting. He/she will directly supervise two Web Producers, who produce and post website updates, microsites, e-mails, and other interactive materials, overseeing the schedule and agenda of departmental activities.
Qualifications: 4-6 years web site management and/or project management experience required. Strong writing and communication skills required. Must manage effectively a large volume of requests. Familiarity with Tessitura and/or the TeamSite Content Management System preferred. Knowledge of programming, scripting, and tagging principles (.Net, JavaScript, XML, HTML) highly desirable. Knowledge of cutting edge technology and ability to keep abreast of new developments as they relate to the Hall’s requirements.
Coordinator, Distance Learning

Weill Music Institute seeks a Coordinator who will work closely with the Director, Distance learning and other members of the Weill Music Institute staff to contribute to the development, creation and ongoing support of the distance learning initiatives that connect to all programmatic areas within the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall. In collaboration with WMI, Production, and IT staff, work to coordinate and implement Distance Learning events across all WMI program areas. Collaborate with various other staff members, including other program staff and Interactive Services staff to produce materials and resources to support and share work. General administrative tasks, including budget tracking, check requests, and scheduling. Communicate with vendors, contractors, and external partners who contribute to successful implementation of Distance learning work.
Qualifications: Administrative and production experience involving education and/or community programs offered via technology, preferably within a music setting. Familiarity with issues pertaining to the use of technology in education and community engagement, including media distribution networks, internet-based resources, videoconferencing, network-based collaboration, online communities, virtual worlds. Capacity to support and nurture institutional relationships with artists, external contractors, production companies, and media organizations and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Licensing Associate

We seek a Licensing Associate who is primarily responsible for two areas of licensing: research companies whose products would be suitable for pre-approved strategies and tactics that provide added value for and increase the breadth of the Carnegie Hall brand and work to locate appropriate retail outlets for the distribution and sale of licensed product beyond Carnegie Hall’s own store. Will also be responsible for coordinating and collaborating product development and product approvals within the Hall and communicating CHC’s needs to the Licensees; sales pitch and presentation development to targeted pre approved companies for licensing (Power Point – writing skills essential); managing Asset clearances, getting photos and illustrations to the licensees; royalty income and monthly budgeted expense tracking; and maintenance of copyright and trademark status by territory.
The Licensing Associate works in collaboration with the Licensing Consultant and the Director of Marketing and Visitor Services on the design and promotion of existing licensee’s products such as musical instruments, boxed CD sets, music downloads, and stationary items currently in development, as well as providing support to the Director of Creative Services and Publishing on photo, illustration and copy clearances in connection with the development of major publications. This position will require close work with the Associate Director of Marketing and the Director of the Weill Music Institute to create targeted lists of companies to approach for specific children’s products and product categories such as educational music publications, toys, games, instruments, classroom materials, DVD’s and the ability to evaluate and recommend appropriate media. This position will also require the candidate to collaborate between CH departments as relates to all licensing issues. As with all Marketing and Creative Services Department personnel, the Licensing Associate will be expected to be present for concert duty at least once a month during the season and provide a written report for each event.
Qualifications: 2 to 3 years of successful work in licensing or promotion is a requirement of this position. Previous experience in copyright and trademark clearances a major plus. This person needs excellent communication skills for engaging and persuading local institutions to participate in Carnegie Hall’s outreach efforts, and to represent CHC in a professional and appropriate manner. Creativity in developing and maintaining programs that match the needs of a broad range of product categories will be essential. The ability to prioritize jobs and to work efficiently and smoothly with other Carnegie departments is critical.
Manager, Professional Programs

Weill Music Institute seeks a Manager, Professional Programs to manage all aspects of Professional Training Workshops, Weill Fellows and Teaching Artist Collaborative including but not limited to: plan current and future seasons; help to generate ideas for programs, establish recruitment plans for program participants, contract and work with workshop leaders, partners, speakers and artist managers on program design and implementation. He/she will collaborate with local, national and international partners and interface with Carnegie Hall departments in relations to these programs. Manage 2 full-time staff plus interns and create and maintain internal budget.
Qualifications: Must have experience in working with world renowned artists and possess extensive knowledge within and/or beyond traditional classical music including jazz, world, and electronic styles. Program experience in professional development settings for young artists, teaching artists, or other educators preferred. Manager must have strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, and be self-motivated. Must also be a team leader, clear communicator, and strong writer.

We seek a Manager, Public Affairs. In capacity as senior publicist will coordinate and manage publicity efforts for select Carnegie Hall concerts, fundraising events, and special projects. Write press releases and photo tips, complete artist research; develop press lists, create pitch plans, set up interviews and photo shoots, and interface with press, answering questions and placing coverage. Serve as PR point person for development team, including securing advance and post-social press coverage. Work closely with all members of departmental team on publicity efforts—contributing ideas to overall PR plans that increase and expand Carnegie Hall’s coverage, editing concert-related press releases developed by team, and managing departmental press release schedule. Oversee ongoing development of media web site and development of clipbooks for special projects, with support of departmental coordinator. Press duty as needed.
Qualifications: 5 years experience in public relations capacity; knowledge of various types of music, including classical, and wide-ranging press contacts covering the arts a plus; strong communication and writing skills; desire to work as part of a team in extremely fast-paced office environment; and excellent computer/internet skills. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Also some supportive administrative work. Candidate must be computer literate. Knowledge of performing arts helpful. Team player with strong interpersonal skills. WMI Interns

WMI Managers
The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall seeks interns for the fall/winter. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist with general office administration for the school and family programs of the Weill Music Institute—organization of mailings and collating curriculum, materials, and information for schools, and other duties as directed. Research future partners and target marketing groups. Arrange travel, hotel and materials for artists and WMI staff. Monitor all general e-mail inboxes and respond directly to correspondent when appropriate. Redirect mail to the correct staff member as required. Attend weekday/weekend school and family concerts and teacher workshops and assist as needed with set-up, distribution of materials, check-in, etc. Assist in assembly of workshop materials prior to event. Assist with registration process, including data entry, payment processing, and confirmation mailings. Attend in-school visits to help with student workshops, observations, and assessment.
Special skills required: Intern must be detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task, have strong organizational skills, and be self-motivated. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and database management are required. Previous experience in arts administration and knowledge of music strongly preferred; concert production experience is highly desirable. Ability to work occasional late nights or weekends.

Carnegie Hall seeks interns for the Fall to assist the development department with daily operations including drafting correspondence, prospect research, administrative tasks, and full involvement in and exposure to fundraising at major performing arts institution, with tasks specific to area of focus: Special Events, Individual Giving, Government and Corporate Sponsorship
Activities include:
- Assist with data management. This includes web-based and telephone research of to identify and update contact information; maintaining the prospect management system for focus area; and other miscellaneous tasks
- Assist with special event planning and implementation.
- Administrative office duties such mailing, faxing, filing, etc.
- Assist in grant writing and program development as needed
- Assist in prospect research and cultivation
- Assist with general Departmental projects as needed including Phone duty.
Candidates considering a career in fundraising and/or arts administration are encouraged to apply. Must be able to commit to twenty hours per week.
