Festival Productions, Inc. Festival Productions, founded by impresario George Wein, has been producing music events for over 45 years, including the Newport Jazz Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and the JVC Jazz Festival. Carnegie Hall’s partnership with Festival Productions includes The Shape of Jazz, the jazz series in Zankel Hall curated by Dan Melnick, Artistic Director, as well as select events from the JVC Jazz Festival. Marilyn Horne: The Song Continues … The Song Continues … a festival in tribute to the art of the vocal recital, was begun in 1997 under the auspices of The Marilyn Horne Foundation and is now in residence at Carnegie Hall. The programs feature open master classes led by Marilyn Horne and other renowned artists, mini-recitals, and The Marilyn Horne Foundation’s Annual Recital, all presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with The Marilyn Horne Foundation. Nonesuch at Carnegie Hall Carnegie Hall is pleased to continue its partnership with Nonesuch Records—home to original and adventurous performers and composers for nearly four decades. The Nonesuch roster spans the genres of world music, contemporary music, classical, jazz, musical theater, and alternative pop. Nonesuch at Carnegie in 2007–2008 will feature music by John Adams, Kronos Quartet, Alarm Will Sound, Steve Reich, SFJAZZ Collective, and others to be announced. Look for the designation throughout this brochure. WFUV New York City public radio station WFUV is well known for programming an eclectic mix of distinctive artists and a wide variety of styles, from established favorites to talented newcomers. In 2007–2008, Carnegie Hall and WFUV present a new season of City Folk® Live at Zankel Hall, a series that showcases singer-songwriters performing acoustic concerts in Zankel Hall. World Music Institute World Views, Carnegie Hall’s world-music series in Zankel Hall, is presented in partnership with the World Music Institute, which is dedicated to the study and presentation of the finest traditional and contemporary music and dance from around the globe. Since its founding in 1985, the World Music Institute has presented music from more than 100 countries and regions in six continents. |
